Help Search Workaround for 2019.1 and Above

$

Hello PC-DMIS Users,

I wanted to communicate a Help search workaround to you.

Those of you who use PC-DMIS 2019.1 and above may have noticed an issue with the Help search in our HTML5 output. Sometimes you'll type a word or phrase, and the search results will return a less-than-helpful "No Results Found" message.

The workaround is to put quotation marks around your search word or phrase. That seems to kick the search engine to yield results.

Some background on this issue:
We use Adobe’s RoboHelp 2017 to generate our HTML5 documentation output. This is a bug or issue in how they handle the search for the HTML5 output type. Unfortunately, there’s nothing we can do to fix Adobe's issue short of changing the generated output, changing documentation tools, or coming up with our own search engine.

Thankfully, the workaround doesn't seem too onerous, once you know what it is.

Upgrading Win 7 to Win 10

Hello,

Searched a bit on the forum but the info out there seemed pretty stale ( we probably just procrastinated on this issue ).

We have a Hexagon Global Performance 575 and we are still running PC-DMIS 2016.

The PC is the one that came with the CMM and is Win7.

Our IT staff is getting ready for Win7 obsolescence so we intend to upgrade to Win10

I called support just to see if there are guide lines for upgrading windows and they started in with the "you have to contact the mfg of your pc..."

So much for the expensive SMA...

So my questions are these:

Is it ok to do an "upgrade in place" from 7 to 10?

Any driver issues or other gotchas?

Should we upgrade to pc-dmis 2019 first? I've glanced at the install instructions and basically we need to backup certain files then install, does not seem too bad.

Any other issues or warnings based on actual user experience?

TIA in advance for any advice

Erik

Pc dims 2019

I am trying to open up a program in pc dims ( 2019 R1 or R2 ) but it ends up having a problem closes pc dims then asked me if I want to send the report. That's all well and good but I need to get this part running like yesterday. Here is what I have , I have opened this from another CMM and back saved it to 2012 MR1 and have had no issues opening it up. I have another CMM with 2019 R2 so I copied the program over to that machine and opened with no issues and back saved to 2019 R1 and still have the same problem. We got one machine updated and it had 2019 R1 then it was updated not that long after with 2019 R2. When I run a different part on this machine it looks like it is using 2019 R1 but when I open my programs they open up in 2019 R2.
What am I missing besides my hair. Can anyone shed some light on this for me.

Pls advise for use subroutine or re-call program

I have 3 program as below
1. Sub check = for checking part only
2. Sub print = for recall from sub check for print out data

Can i use "Main program" for call " sub check " and then call " sub print " ?

( Normally we must open program Sub check first, then we must open program sub print again, if we can combine to Main program )

TP20 - not working on one of two machines

$

Hello Everyone!

I was searching the forum but could not find solution for this specific problem:
  1. I’m using DEA GLOBAL Classic with HH-MI-M Manual Probe Head and Renishaw TP20 module.
  2. This specific TP20 module is used on 2 different machines (2x DEA GLOBAL classic). It is calibrated with both machines
  3. Today this TP20 stopped working on one of the machines. There is no connection, LED light won’t lit and probe won’t register hits
  4. We thought that it is HH-MI-M problem but other modules we use on this machine are working fine, so that excludes Manual Probe Head as the culprit.
  5. This TP20 works on the other machine with no problem.
  6. Crash Pins on TP20 are hidden
  7. When we squeeze the Manual Probe Head to change the angle, the light turns on and the TP20 registers hits with no problem, but when we let go of the Head it disconnects (I attached photos to show the problem)
  8. If it wouldn’t work on both machines the cause would be the defective TP20. If the Manual Probe Head would malfunction then all the modules wouldn’t work with it. We are at loss.
  9. TP20 is not measuring magnetized parts or parts fixed with magnets
  10. Demagnetization of the TP20 did not help

We have no clue what to do. We predict that Renishaw will just say that it works for them.
If anyone knows any tips or solutions it would be great and I would be forever grateful.

Docking speed question

$

We recently got our new Global Blue setup up and I'm working on getting our probe builds set up. I was changing out the probes in DCC to make sure they would all load correctly. I do have one concern though. We intend to run this machine at its full 500mm per second. When it takes of the loaded probe into the rack, it docks at 10mm per second (I set this in the docking speed for the rack). However when it goes from there to pick up the next probe it goes at full 500mm per second. It is not crashing or anything but still very unsettling. Is there a way to change this speed as well?

Thanks.

Finding small holes__Use find hole or something different?

Hi all

PC DMIS2019R2..

What is the best way to have the CMM find the "Ø0.090" 6:00 hole" shown? ( No clocking fixture)

I am trying to make it so my operators don't have to do anything manually. I'm messing around with find hole but I don't like how it searches in a circular pattern. Is there a way to make FIND HOLE search only in a straight line?

Any help/ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

Export Raw Data as .txt

Trying to find the easiest way to export point data in a .txt format. The catch is they want a separate .txt file for each feature. Example: PLN1.txt, PLN2.txt. Each containing the individual point XYZIJK. I have done all measurements using Vector points for this reason. Thanks in advance!!

2019 R2 SP1 + CMMVe problems

Lot of crashes today, trying to execute an old program (which worked on 2018 r2).
I believe that the problem comes from a new lightning option (at the bottom right of the light window).
I'm unable to change to ON the first setting of light into the command window (<OFF,50,ON>).
In my program which crashes, it's <ON,100,ON>, the light is very "strong", and I can measure the equator of a white sphere with black background.
If I click on the new button, the light becomes "strong", but decrease while I select test...

Any other guy saw it ?

Ah, I forgot, the rotary turns !

Trying to change Hit Values

Hi everyone,
I'm relatively new to PC-DMIS, and have used the free online classes and this forum to learn until my official training this coming January. I'm trying to make a program that will inspect the ID of a part. I programmed it as a cylinder and only took the required 6 points to locate it. I'm trying to change the number of hits but every time I change the value, it goes back to 6. I can't even edit the IJK's of the feature without it reverting back to the physical numbers. I've done it on other features where I can update the nominals and equally space the hit points to get a better measurement, but it won't work on this program. What am I doing wrong?

Printing multiple reports out of PC-DMIS NC from same program with headers for both?

I have a PC-DMIS program and I want two separate reports from the same program. I use the report command / print command to get two separate reports but only the first one has the standard PC-DMIS header with the program name, time, date, ect. on it. The second report has all of the required information just no header. How do I get the header that records program time, date, and name on the second report?

Effective probe build length for SM25-1

Good morning all.
I haven't been able to find a place that defines my question so I'll throw it out here. I have a part to program that is a small bored shaft about 4 inches in length. Again engineers with much more wisdom than I have chosen to make the primary datum A an internal bore about 3.5 inches down the length of the part. I certainly don't have a probe build that length so I am thinking of using extensions to achieve this. Problem (maybe) is that we only have an SM25-1 and I am not sure if it can support that length of a build with any accuracy. I don't have the option of purchasing anything like an SM25-4 or something like that. Any thoughts on my problem. Much appreciated.

Two cmms program adjustment

Hello I've researched how to use one program on two cmm;s using external Aligments and I got it wowork.I've changed 2 programs so far. Both recall external aligment that's save on each machine.
my problem now is that ne global cmm arm doesn't go as low at on the old cmm. What I would like to do is add read file command in the beginning of the program that would check which cmm program is running on and based on the value either run or go to comment
that this program will not run on this cmm.
THIS IS WHAT I HAVE SO FAR
Code:
PTR       =FILE/OPEN,C:\Users\G F\Documents\CMM TYPE\CMM TYPE.txt,READ
CMMTYPE    =FILE/READLINE,FPTR,
            IF_GOTO/CMMTYPE==4,GOTO = END
            COMMENT/OPER,NO,FULL SCREEN=YES,AUTO-CONTINUE=NO,
THIS PROGRAM WILL NOT RUN ON THIS CMM
END        =LABEL/

Z axis moves first

$

This is my first post so lets go.
I'm using a 9.12.08 global S chrome and when I run a program the z axis moves first that means I have to watch to make sure it doesn't hit the calibration sphere. I've checked the clear point move sequence and that looks ok. I have a probe changer and if a different probe is used it picks up the correct probe then it takes off with the first movement is in Z. After the program runs the first time I have a move point so I don't have to worry after that. How can I get the Z axis to move once the probe is over the part (not worrying about hitting anything).
thanks for the help.

Hi all

Using PC DMIS 2019 R2.....

Will this true position come out correctly when my operator runs the part in real life??

When I CONSTRUCT CYL_64 out of SCN3 (AFTER I ADD THE ".HIT STUFF"), it puts the X nominal at ZERO when it should be at X-0.0276. As you can see below, I forced my nominal in there and locked it with a "+0"...I just hoping to get some input to make sure PC DMIS won't do something goofy when my junior level operator goes to run this while I'm gone.

Some assurance and/or advise (if someone thinks I need it) would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

CAD Model Not Snapping To Measured Features and Alignment

I transformed the CAD model to have the coordinate system be the same as the measured part. I also clicked the CAD = PART button after aligning everything. It worked, but the measured alignment features are pretty far away from the CAD Z origin. How do I bring that up to the origin (or is it the other way around)? I know there's a simple solution, but I'm a bit stumped as a greenhorn.
