PC-DMIS timing issue

Old LK G80 machine with original controller. We just upgraded our computer system to Windows 7 (the IT department was having fits about our old XP based computer) Anyway, am having an issue with taking manual hits when teaching the machine to create a new program. I can take maybe three hits and the machine just locks up. It won't register all three hits. If I'm trying to do a plane, it thinks I'm doing a line or more likely a point. We've had a technician in here (non Hexagon), and he thinks it's some sort of timing issue and that there's a setting in the settings editor that needs to be adjusted.

Any ideas?
