Cop to Cad
Hi All,
I just finished with the 101/102 training at Hexagon MI location and am fairly new to CMM work. I have the Absolute arm 8325-7 and am currently using PC DIMIS 2020R1. I free scanned my part(both A side and B side) because fixture is currently unavailable. I created a third cop after combing cop 1(a side) and cop 2(b side) then I aligned final cop to cad. Before aligning the two, I picked my points for measurement(auto feature) on surface profile along with the circles that needed measurements. When I align Cad(reference) to cop, parts align but auto features that were selected remain on the other side of the screen? how do I move the points to the now aligned cop to cad? when I double click on the points in the edit window it shows' up on the cad model? I am fairly new with this so please bare with me. Any help with me appreciated.
Would one suggest I take the print dimensions on cad then align to part to cop then extract or align cad to cop then take points from part print then extract? the only reason I ask this is just incase I get my cad model ahead of time and I set up my program before receiving my plastic molded parts after and running the program. If the first question can be answered then I can then start using cad model to pick dimensions from print before parts are ready.

Updated online learning materials?
We've had our DCC Gage (PC-DMIS 2017 R2) for about a year now, and it's been going okay, for the most part. All the learning was through YouTube videos, this forum, and the wonderful manual. As a small shop (2 guys, 3 machines and a couple CMM's) sending one of us out for a few days of training never materialized (always more parts that needed to get machined). I was hoping that Hexagon U would have a "CMM 101" course in their E-Library, but it appears they only have online content as supplements to their classroom work. Well, considering the current state of the world, classroom learning is off the table for the foreseeable future.
I looked at the CMMXYZ content, but it appears to be from 2012. I know the fundamentals haven't changed, so is this my best option? As the owner/operator, I'm not at all opposed to dropping a grand on the course, but just want to make sure it's the best possible for remote learning

Error command Auto Cylinder - Adaptive Cylinder Line Scan
Hello,
I create auto cylinder as a adaptive scan and choose Adaptive Cylinder Line Scan. While measuring machine measure one line from 5 generated and I had error: „Circular movement cannot start from the circle center”. I don't have any colission or strange contact with the detail. Probe stops in the middle of cylinder with no contact.
To avoid this error I change diameter of this cylinder from 3.8 to 3.7 and it works good.
Why this error appears?

Measuring programs / Alignments in PC-DMIS
Hello PC-DMIS users,
we are looking for a solution to turn a part about 180 degrees, within the same measuring program and continuing the measuring of elements. We are using the update version of PC-DMIS 2020 R1. We have made several tests, by using the different methods of Alignements, for example: to call alignment, to insert a new alignment, to recall alignment etc. Unfortunately, nothing works. Are there someone who can help us in this special case? Perhaps it is not possible with PC-DMIS Software. We would be pleased to receive an answer.
With kind regards,

Offline > Online
I wrote a program online and am trying to run it online. The probe angles are inconsistent. TA90B-90 offline is 90 degrees off online. When I changed it to TA90B-180, it was correct on the machine. Is there a machine parameter that's off? Any tips on troubleshooting when transferring programs offline to online? I'm new to this. Thanks.

Datum Call-out Confusion
Most parts we make do not have datum call-outs like these. The call-out comes off the size dimension, not on the feature. So would it be the center line between the two walls? Or the one wall? I have attached a perfectly drawn replica to help explain.

Looping With Unique Serial Names
Hello there,
I am writing a program that measures four identical parts at the same time with the functionality of loops. When the program is initiated, the user inputs four unique serial numbers composed of letters and numbers. The program then measures the four pieces and outputs four different files with the name of the unique serial number in the file names. I do not want the user to manually change each file name after the program is finished. The parts have two rows and columns so I have to use two loops to measure all four parts. I am having an issue in figuring out the logic to have the all the unique serial numbers output in the file names. I have looked on the forum for something similar which I have applied to my program, but nothing this specific.
As of right now, the program only outputs one file. Is it possible to have the "To_file" overwrite change to the next directory or variable after every loop?

some problem with part and iterative alignment
Hello all
I have a part and I have a problem with the coordinate system, maybe I'm doing something wrong, so I will describe everything that I do in order (I use auto features and after pointing to the CAD model take them manually (measure now toggle - ON)
1. I take 3 single points on the plane ( pnt1, pnt2, pnt3)
2. take center circle (cir1)
3. take circle on x + (cir2)
4. iterative alignment
5. pnt1, pnt2, pnt3 - ZAXIS
cir 1, cir 2 - XAXIS
Cir 1 - YAXIS
6. Measure ALL iter align features
7. And now the alignment is shifting a little, and when the CMM is already taking the cir2, it simply doesn’t get into it
What could be my problem?

...I get an error message each time I try it. I did this for testing so I only included "*" but finalized I would like to check if the edit boxes contain "\ / : * ? " < > |" if it does, then display a message and not let them continue until it is fixed. Anyone have any ideas?

Composite Profile Call-Out to Datum A Twice.
I have a part where datum A is a plane, oriented (0, 0, 1). There is a plane below datum A, but also oriented (0, 0, 1).
The plane below datum A has a composite profile call out as such;
| .060 | A |
| .030 | A |
Isn't this redundant? I am not understanding what this FCF is trying to dimension.

LMS License Server install files
I am trying to get my hands on license server install files but we do not have proper FTP access here. I can go to the link, but when I try to download the .zip it gives me an access error. I am trying to do some testing on PCD2020 but only have an old HASP that expired in 2019. I just set up a current floating license server using older CLM files and Hex says it won't work until I update the server files.
Is anybody willing to download the .zip from Hex's FTP portal and send me the pertinent files?
ftp://ftp.wilcoxassoc.com/Licensing/LMS/LicenseServer/
The .zip that I am looking for is "License Server Install Files 2020-03-23.zip"
***EDIT: I must've had some settings wrong. Working fine now.

V2016 Parallelism error
Working offline using a CAD model and dimensioning a plane to plane parallelism and it's showing 0.074mm error.
Tried exact measure and legacy, both show the he same thing.
Dimensioned flatness to be sure I'm not hitting another surface by accident.
All planes measure 0 flatness error. Vectors are all 0,0,1 or 0,0,-1.
I have this problem on 2 different plane to plane dimensions. Just makes me wonder if my actual results are going to be valid when I can go back to plant.

Part identification within a routine
First let me apologize if this is a silly question. I'm very new to this.
I'm building a routine to measure parts. It's my understanding that once I write the routine I can then use it to scan many versions of the same part. I can then output a report on any specific part.
So how do I identify the part when running the routine.
