We are currently looking at options to replace our scheduling software for our cnc mills. We have our Makinos automated so that a robot loads and unloads pallets from a rack. Our scheduler takes the posted code from the programmer and adds pallet change commands and various other necessities. I'd like to be able to find a scheduling software that would also communicate with the cmm so that I could have it load parts directly into the cmm. I'd like to see if anyone has done something like this and what kind of software they are using.

Setting defaults.
We recently upgraded to 2019R2, and now the defaults on all of our auto features have changed. All of our features have avoidance moves and void detection turned on, we absolutely do not need this. I have tried going into the measurement strategies editor, changing the settings to what we normally use and saving that as a new group, then setting that group to default, but it never seems to stay. The group I created is there and the default, but none of the settings I selected seem to be active when selecting the auto features.

Steel Cal Sphere for HP-S-1X Scanning Head?
Good Morning, the operators bumped my ceramic cal sphere with a part and broke the sphere off the post. Can I use the steel cal sphere from my 454 SF to calibrate the probes on my Tigo?

Probe Utility Dialog issues
I am experiencing a strange issue in PC-DMIS 2019 R1, a recent upgrade for us from 2013. When I first open the Probe Utility Dialog, it opens up fine. As soon as I click the "Add Angles..." button, the Probe Utility window jumps halfway off the top of screen. I then cannot move the Probe Utility Dialog window back down onto the screen because I cannot reach its title bar. I will attach screenshots, of before and after clicking the button, to this post. I have found the "ProbeUtilitesDlg" setting in the Settings Editor that allows me to get the window back onto the screen when I close and open it back up, but it still jumps off the top of the screen every time I click that button. And if I just close the window and open it up without going into the Settings Editor, it will open up to the "off-screen" position. I would like to find a method or workaround that keeps the Probe Utility window on the screen, without opening up the Settings Editor every time I need to add angles to my tip list. Any help or ideas will be much appreciated!

Exporting PointCloud or Mesh
Good morning all! I have a question about exporting scans. Have some parts that need scanned to be compared to the CAD model. I do not now how to send these scans to the engineering team. I have tried to export in IGS but it shows up as an Adobe file when it is saved to the network. Can anyone please help? I am new to all this so bare with me. Also have the Meshing software if that helps.

Symmetry of Slots in Reference to ID Cylinder
Good morning! I am very green to PC-DMIS and I need help. I have a part that has an ID -A- and ribs on the outside with slots cut into them. The width of the slots must be symmetrical to -A- within .010. I picked 1 point on each side of the slot and measured a cylinder around -A-. It is not working when I pick the two points alone. How do I properly dimension the symmetry callout? The part looks similar to the picture below. Thank you!

Spherical Points and paste with pattern
I have to measure the inside of a large sphere. Is there a way to take spherical radius points? I can't seem to remember how. I measure the sphere with a dozen points, construct a sphere, set XYZ zero to that sphere, then is it possible to paste with pattern a whole bunch of points? I need a very dense point group of hundreds of points and selecting each individually will take forever.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Runout Experts needed...
I have 2 circles that I scanned. I drew a line between the 2 and that is being used as my Datum. Can runout be measured using a line drawn between to circles? I was told that using cones makes it nearly impossible to get good runout data.

Scanning - Stuck
Evening all,
I'm doing a analogue scan along a surface that has some tight rads. I've noticed that a particular small rad of 2mm does not output all the points of that scan when i either A, ask for the profile, or B break out the scans as points. (please see the photo below of the issue i am getting). Im currently inspecting this profile with a 2mm ruby . The probe appears make full contact with the surface. I've changed to a 1.5mm to test but still have the same result.
im using an SM25 module to do so
![]()
Direction 1 tech set to line
Exec control set to defined
nominals method set to Find nominals, tolerance set at 4mm
Ive changed the exec controls to relearn to see if this is the issue as the probe might not be hitting the surface but this isnt the case. Ive uped the tolerance aswell just to see if this rad is way out but this again didn't change.
boundary type - plane, 2 crossings.
If i break the scan to points i am able to take a hit on all points as a touch probe
If i break the scan to points after scan execution then points are missing along the rad when i break out
the t values for this individual points are around 0.7 so they should be registered by the scan
Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks

Calibration for multiple probes
I am new and unaware how I should be calibrating multiple probes in a rack so they tie correctly together in one program.
I have placed the cal sphere back on and continue by starting with the masterprobe and take one hit saying the sphere has moved. Must I repeat this for every probe in the rack or just the master?
Do I have to calibrate all probes directly after the master in one sitting or will I run into trouble if I only do one or two probes after the master as opposed to all seven probes?

Can You Repeat Please? 2019R1 Issue?
Ok I have deleted and recreated this over and over again. I will submit this as a bug, if maybe someone else can confirm this. I create a simple position and perpendicular callout.
![Click image for larger version Name: Capture.JPG Views: 1 Size: 28.0 KB ID: 458250]()
And position looks good on the report, Except reporting out the Axis, it's like a broken record that keeps repeating.

Does the same to the Perpendicular callout. I'll make that a little bigger so you don't have to squint.

Star Probe Cal Issue
PCDMIS 2019 R1 on a SF CMM 4.5.4.
I am having terrible issues trying to calibrate this star probe. It is the only probe for this cmm. I am using tip #1 A0B0 as the MASTER (i.e. selecting "yes" to qual sphere has moved). Tip 1 always calibrates but as soon as it moves to tip 2 I get the error shown below. Basically looks like an "out of range" error. I am thinking that maybe the the axes are getting flipped. IDK. I have tried every combination that I could think of (manual, DCC, Manual+DCC, DCC+DCC) and nothing works. I have a star probe in the lab that calibrates fine but it is part of a rack where I already have a master established. I feel that this should be a simple fix and that I am missing something. I have already scoured the forums for help and have tried the suggestions but nothing is working. Please help! (the rack in the background will not be used, fyi)

Position measurement using GD&T callout VS a Distance Dimension
Good Afternoon,
I have an issue where I am building out a part that has an ABC datum structure when I set up a hole position measurement using the GD&T on the drawing and run the program it shows the holes as deviating in the range of 0.005" to 0.009" depending on the hole. When I dimension the part using the distance measurement and the same datum plane with the same circle it measures pretty near nominal. When I physically measure the part it comes up the same as the distance measurement within my routine. I'm using 2019 R1 with a Romer Arm 7525 6 axis, Perpendicular to centerline is on, use datum structure is on, and my alignment and my datum alignment line up.
Thanks for any help,
Richard

Marked Sets to Operator Mode
I am doing some programming on an old system with PC DMIS 2009. I have written my programs, but the process I have to follow is to use marked sets to create an operator only interface, which I'm having trouble creating.
Typically, you mark a section and it doesn't run in the program. I need the entire program to run in a marked set. So to create that, do I do the opposite of typical marking and actually mark/highlight the entire program? Then Edit - Marking - New Marked Set ? (By memory)
And when I mark the entire program, certain things don't highlight. Alignment related for the most part, I think. Do these non-highlighted portions embed in the marked set?
Thanks and sorry if this has been asked. I didn't see what I needed in a search.

autocal. program, display results/redo cal
Hey guys
We have an autocalibration program that runs thru all our tips.
We run the program weekly (at the end of night shift), and in the morning we analyze the results.
In some cases we have to redo the calibration of certain tips/angles.
We'd like to avoid this by maybe somehow implementing a script that recalibrates the tips/angles automatically if they are out of tol.
Is there anyone who has done anything similar to this?
