Hello,
I'm brand new to pc dmis as of a couple weeks ago (took the pc dmis 101 class). I want to be diligent and make sure my programs are representing my parts as close as possible (i work in the plastics industry and that is what i will be measuring).
Now, a couple things im having a hard time wrapping my head around is vectors and IJK values when programming from CAD. I was working on a program for a part today and picked points on the CAD model to measure a plane. When i went into the F9 edit window of this plane i noticed the IJK values were something like I=0, J=-.9998, K=.0023 (bare with me, i cant remember the EXACT numbers). Now, since i am programming off of CAD do i leave the IJK values alone? Or do i need to change them to I=0, J=-1, K=0? Do you ever change the IJK values? What about when programming when there is no CAD model? Do you ever change the IJK values then?
I'm not brand new to CMM programming, im just brand new to pc dmis, i have prior experience with Calypso, i do not recall dealing with IJK values or vectors when programming with Calypso. With that said can someone explain to me what vectors and IJK values are for in pc dmis and how they can afect a program if they are incorrect, or even how they affect programs when they are correct.
Hope my questions make sense and i hope to hear from you all soon so i can start gaining some confidence in my programming!
