I'm fairly new to CMM programing and have been working with PCDMIS a little over a year and have noticed odd behavior with some programs. My former supervisor said it was the PC Demons, examples.. I would be in the middle of running parts after they come off the mill and the first 5 would be in print say on a .002 true position. Well the 6th part would be out of print around .008. I clean the part a little more and the same results. After checking it 3 times we scratch our heads and ask what the heck is going on. Nothing change as far as the milling process. Then after 30 minutes of brainstorming and hard checking the part we see its fine. I then restart the cmm and computer, calibrate, run the same program on the same part and it turns out good. I've had this happen multiple times where I had to restart everything. Just today I ran 3 parts and all were fine on a .001 TP then all of a sudden the 4th is out .010. I then ran one of the first 3 parts and it to was out .010. I ended up running an older saved date of the same program and the TP was in. Has anybody had problems like this? I do leave the cmm on over night sometimes when I know I will be running the same parts the next day. Any thoughts. thanks.
